Cycling and hiking
The vicinity of Het Caendorp is perfect for wonderful cycling and hiking trips. The beautiful nature is interspersed with beautiful green meadows and sociable towns and cities.
Cycling
Our bungalow park is situated near a cycling node (no. 27) a perfect starting point for short or long cycling trips. A wonderful cycling trip for instance, is one to the historic city of Alkmaar (5km) with its beautiful canals and sociable shopping streets. From Heiloo, a bicycle path will take you all the way through the Heiloo Forest to downtown Alkmaar. In addition, the sea and the beach of Egmond aan Zee and Egmond Binnen are within reach with a distance of just 6 kilometer. En route, there is plenty to see and experience, such as a visit to the Abbey of Egmond (www.abdijvanegmond.nl) with its butterfly garden and candle factory. For the cycling enthusiasts, there are plenty of long cycling trips to undertake, such as to the Beemster, Bergen and Schoorl and Castricum and Wijk aan Zee. The latter 4 places can be reached via the North Holland Dune Reserve. There are various beautiful cycling paths that cross the North Holland Dune. The dune is a diverse landscape with dune, forest, coniferous forest and beautiful views. For the mountain bike enthusiasts, a beautiful trail is set out in the forests of Schoorl.
More information about the North Holland Dune Reserve is available at the website of PWN.

In addition, you’ll find several forests and parks in the vicinity. At walking distance from Het Caendorp you’ll find the well-known pilgrimage site Onze Lieve Vrouw Ter Nood. You’ll take a short hike through the chapel forest, and you can get holy water from the well. Along the western border of Heiloo, you’ll find the Noorderneg and Zuiderneg. A beautiful recreational area with hiking trails and cycling paths. In this recreational area, you can go fishing, canoeing, and you’ll find several play grounds for children. The Noorderneg adjoins the Heiloo forest, which stretches all the way to Alkmaar. And don’t forget the migratory bird path that runs along Heiloo and the old hunting trails that run from Heiloo to Egmond.
